“and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:52-53‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So my husband, Jesse, is a preacher and I am a teacher. I tend to have LOTS of Word in anything I share with someone. So buckle up! 😆

A few things to notice about the above verse:

  1. As we are IN Jesus- in relationship, allowing Him Lordship- we get to be part of what He’s doing. We get taken along for the ride, so to speak. We are never left behind. If He can do it, we can too! After all, He did say we would do even GREATER works than He! 😮(John 14:12)
  2. There is a waiting period. I wonder what those in the tombs did during their waiting period. What are you doing while you wait to get from point A to point B at the direction of the Lord, while you wait for that promise to be fulfilled, for that healing to come, for that answer to prayer? Are we trusting Him and His promise? Do we really believe we are seated WITH Him? (Eph 2:6)

So here’s what I pull from this:

  1. Jesus brought others along with Him.
  2. It wasn’t immediate. They were raised at His crucifixion but didn’t come out of the tombs until His resurrection.

I could go on for days talking about and finding scripture about how we are now ONE with Christ and have supreme access to all He has and has done, that His promises are good and they come right on time. What matters is that we REALIZE that though. Like really realize. Not just in the knowing it in our minds sense, but realizing it in action and in completion.

We must realize the potential we have in Christ- knowing that we have been raised WITH Him and that all the things will come in HIS perfect timing, even if there is a waiting period through which we must stay focused and strong in belief, and remain steadfast in our devotion to Him.

“On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.””‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬
